Cereal is one of the many ways you can break the fast. Not all cereals are equal though, one thing to note is they do tend to be high in carbs compared to protein. Carbs are great and the body uses for quick energy but when you increase protein your energy becomes more sustainable so you can last longer without needing to fill the tank.
Reading the nutritional panels on the back of the box can give you an idea of the macronutrient balance of carbs, fats and protein. We are all different so it’s up to you to play with varying amounts and seeing how long your energy lasts.
If you find within two hours you’re hungry again adding some extra protein into your bowl will help.
Hemp seeds are a great way to do this. Easy to buy from the supermarket and all you need to do is sprinkle about 2 tablespoons into your bowl thus adding about 5gms of plant protein.
Not only will it increase protein your body will also enjoy the extra fibre, and omega 3 oils.
Will you give it a try?
